MALDIVES - The Paradise on Earth
This magical place which falls like a necklace off the south coast of the Indian sub-continent is actually a collection of over a thousand coral islands that stretches across 800 kilometres of brilliant blue sea. The Maldives are renowned for the shallow lagoons and spectacular coral reefs that surround the islands.
These islands are grouped into clusters of atolls that are a haven for scuba divers, from beginners to the most experienced, and anyone who appreciates magnificent ocean views and timeless tranquility.
Called the Flower of the Indies by Marco Polo, this paradise on earth remains one of the most unspoilt exotic locations for holidays in the whole world. The islands are mostly no more than two metres high and are surrounded by coral reefs in crystal clear lagoons. The clean, white beaches contrast with the multiple coloured coral reefs and brilliantly coloured tropical fish that abound in these waters. The opportunities to view underwater life are unrivalled - with a year round temperature that is almost constant around 30 degrees Celcius - mainly warm and humid with pleasant sea breezes to enhance the luxury of the sun, sand, sea and feeling of well-being that is the unique characteristic of the Maldives. During the southwest monsoon season from May to October, there is some rain and wind. In the northeast monsoon season from November to April it is dry with very little wind - just right to contrast with European winters.
